Getting ready for the Orchid appeal run

Just two days, now to the Orchid charity run for men’s cancers. I’ve been doing this for the past few years. It’s a pleasant run around Essex lanes starting from Billericay.

My father died of prostate cancer, and the first time this run came onto my radar was on the anniversary of his death about four years ago – it seemed like I was being told something. In fact it was my first ever charity ride and coincided with my return to cycling after more thanĀ  a few decades slobbing in front of a computer or in a car. We did the easy 20 mile run as a family event, and cranked up the mileage since.

It’s a great fun event and I urge anybody to give it a go whatever level of fitness and experience – and of course any sponsorship donations will be gratefully accepted.
